I’m introducing a new Side Quests feature—fun, bite-sized updates inspired by my interests beyond space. Stay tuned for engaging experiments, creative tips, and meaningful experiences.

This section will highlight my passion in hands-on STEM activities through my student-led STEM group to volunteering initiatives in my community, creative cooking experiments, and personal fitness goals—all designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and personal growth.

So let’s Explore….Learn….Grow together!

Many students spend their weekends playing sports, studying, relaxing with friends, or on their electronic devises :). For me, part of my weekend is dedicated to helping with Chinmaya Balavihar, a youth program at my local Hindu Temple that teaches children about Hindu values, culture, and traditions.

As a volunteer, I help younger students learn about stories from Hindu mythology, important festivals, reciting mantras, and life lessons that encourage kindness, respect, and responsibility. Whether it is assisting teachers during lessons, helping organize activities, or guiding students during cultural events, every experience gives me an opportunity to make a positive impact and contribute towards my community.

One of the most rewarding parts of volunteering in Balavihar is seeing younger children become excited about learning their heritage. Through interactive activities, discussions, and celebrations, they develop a stronger connection to their culture while building friendships within the community.

Balavihar has also helped me grow as a leader. Working with younger students has strengthened my self-esteem, communication, patience, and teamwork skills. It has taught me the importance of serving others and being a role model for the next generation.

Volunteering at Balavihar is more than community service—it is a way to preserve traditions and share valuable life lessons that my parents have taught me and strengthen the bonds within our temple community. By helping younger students learn and grow, I have discovered that teaching others can be one of the most meaningful learning experiences of all.

I hope to keep doing my part towards the vision that Pujya Swami Chinmayananda had for Balavihar- “Children are not vessels to be filled but lamps to be lit. The seed of spiritual value should be sown in young hearts. It must be cared for with the warmth of love and affection, and such a tree shall blossom forth flowers of brotherhood, love, peace, bliss, and Perfection.”.

Our school tennis team has been named Team of the Week by the local newspaper, and it’s an achievement worth celebrating! This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that each player has shown so far in the season.

From intense practices to competitive matches, all team members have consistently shown perseverance, and sportsmanship on and off the court. Everyone’s commitment to improving every day and supporting one another has truly paid off.

Being featured by the local newspaper not only highlights our recent success, but also brings pride to our entire school community.

Congratulations to ‘Bisons’ on this well-deserved honor—I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next! 🎾

The sun was setting as my partner and I stepped onto the court, and the chilly air made the match even tougher. From the first serve, we knew our opponents would be tough. Every rally felt like a battle, with quick volleys and long points that kept us moving despite the cold. My partner and I stayed in sync, communicating and working together to take the first set 6–2.

The second set slipped away 3-6 after a few mistakes and miscommunication. As it got colder, we reset and stayed focused heading into the final set.

The last set was close the whole way. At 5–5, we broke the opponent team’s serve after a long rally. Serving for the match, we stayed calm despite being tired and cold—and closed it out 7–5.

More importantly, our team won 7-2.

Walking off the court, as I reflected on the game, I thought t wasn’t just about the win—it was about teamwork, trust, and pushing through tough conditions. Matches like this show what doubles tennis is really about!

Hope I can keep the momentum going for the rest of the season. Onwards and upwards…

As I approach a major milestone—my upcoming second-degree black belt test in Taekwondo*—it feels like the right moment to reflect on a journey that began nine years ago as a white belt: curious, uncertain, and taking my very first steps onto the mat. Back then, every move felt new and every technique was a challenge. There were moments when I wanted to give up. But with each class, I learned an important lesson: progress isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence.

As I moved through the ranks, the journey became less about belts and more about personal growth. I built discipline by showing up, even on tough days, while balancing school and other activities. I developed resilience by pushing through failures, and confidence by achieving things that once felt impossible. Every test became more than a measure of physical skill—it tested my patience, focus, and determination.

Working toward my second-degree black belt is not just another achievement; it reflects years of commitment and continuous self-improvement. Taekwondo has shaped me into a stronger, more confident, and focused individual. It has taught me to set goals, stay consistent, and practice respect and gratitude. Most importantly, it has helped me believe in my ability to grow—not just as a martial artist, but as a person.

Now, as I assist in teaching younger students, I feel proud to give back to the art. It’s rewarding to help instill the same values and habits in them that Taekwondo has given me—lessons that will guide them both on and off the mat.

*Taekwondo is a Korean martial art known for its fast, high kicks, dynamic jumping and spinning techniques, and quick footwork. Beyond physical skills, it emphasizes building self-confidence, focus, discipline, respect, fitness, and self-esteem.

The start of our school tennis season brings a fresh wave of excitement and motivation. Stepping back onto the court, I can already feel how much I’ve missed it—from the sound of the ball hitting the racket to the energy of practicing with my teammates again.

These first few practices remind me that there’s always room to improve. I’m working on sharpening my serves, staying consistent during rallies, and building stronger chemistry with my team. Even though it’s early, everyone is pushing each other to get better, which makes the experience even more rewarding.

With matches right around the corner, I’m focused on giving my best effort every time I step on the court. I’m excited to compete, learn from every match, and represent my school with pride. This season feels like it’s going to be a special one, and I’m looking forward to making the most of it.
