about me
Hello! My name is Tavish Gupta, and I am currently a junior in Shaker High School in New York. I created this blog to document my journey through the mysteries of astrobiology and explore its fascinating connections to food. Academically, I am drawn to astrobiology—the intersection of astrophysics and biology—and I enjoy adding my own personal spin by linking it to my passion for food. Beyond this, I conduct research on the role of actin binding proteins in the uterine and vulval muscles of C. elegans with my mentor at a local college, volunteer at a hospital and library, serve senior citizens at a local senior home, and shadow a physician.
As a tennis player and first-degree black belt in Taekwondo (working toward my second-degree belt), I also coach younger students, which have not only helped me stay mentally and physically fit, but also taught me discipline, leadership, and work ethic. Leading school clubs has nurtured my curiosity and desire to inspire younger minds. As a young science enthusiast and executive board member of a local non for profit ‘Saturday Scholars’ run by like-minded highschoolers, I enjoy connecting young minds to STEM professionals to explore mentorship opportunities, and organizing webinars and local events to educate them in the field. I am socially conscious, who is passionate about advocating for clean energy and environmental protection through various initiatives. In my free time, I play the piano, which fosters creativity and helps me express myself. Balancing academics, sports, and extracurriculars keeps me curious, driven, and always ready for the next adventure.
